Introduction:

As an attending physician in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in Taipei Medical University Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan, Dr. Wu’s speciality is in sports medicine, arthroplasty and biomechanics. He got his master degree in the Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory in the Institute of Biomedical Engineering in National Yang-Ming University in Taiwan in Aug. 2008. Dr. Wu was a research fellow in Orthopaedic Bioengineering Laboratory in Massachusetts General Hospital(MGH) and Harvard Medical School(HMS) from 2008.10 to 2009.09. He worked on in-vitro knee biomechanics research using robotic testing system and in-vivo knee kinematics using dual fluoroscopic imaging system (DFIS) techniques.

Experiences:

Chief, Department of Orthopaedics, Landseed International Hospital, Shanghai 2013.06-2013-11
In Landseed International Hospital in Shanghai, I provide high quality orthopedic care for the international professionals there, including surgical consultation, clinical practice and rehabilitation.

Research Fellowship, MGH & HMS 2008-2009

Attending Physician, TSGH 2005-2013
  • Arthroplasty: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA), Revision TKA, Total hip arthroplasty (THA), Revision THA, Total shoulder arthroplasty(TSA), Hemiarthroplasty for hip and shoulder
  • Sports injury: Arthroscopy assisted surgeries, ACL/PCL reconstruction, Meniscus repair with all-inside method, Cartilage repair with Mosaic-plasty
  • Spine surgery: Spinal stenosis, Herniated disc disease, Compression and Burst fracture management
  • Trauma: Fracture and dislocation management, Mini-invasive procedures
  • Hand surgery: Ganglion, Carpal tunnel release, Trigger finger and arthritic hand management
Clinical lecturer, NDMC 2005-2013
Dr. Wu give lectures to the medical students, interns and residents about basic orthopaedic knowledge and general features of the musculoskeletal disorders. He also focus on the primary care for orthopaedic patients from the clinical point of view in internship teaching programs. Throughout the residency training programs, Dr. Wu emphasize cross-disciplinary teaching modalities, breakthrough technologies, and innovative ways to advance training in both clinical skills and scientific knowledge.

Residency 2000-2005
Dr. Wu completed five-year comprehensive orthopaedic residency training in TSGH, the principal affiliated teaching hospital of NDMC in Taiwan. The training programs included trauma, spine, sports medicine, hand & upper extremity, orthopaedic oncology and foot & ankle surgeries.

Research interests:
  • Fixation devices used in ACL reconstruction
  • The roles of AM & PL bundles of ACL playing in knee kinematics
  • Biomechanical characteristics, repair and regeneration of meniscus
  • Mechanoregulation of chondrocyte proliferation
